2007年7月16日讀者Joyce來電郵說，她在雜誌上見到片語「go bananas」，不明其意。

(1)go bananas指「精神錯亂」，例如：She has gone bananas since her son was killed.
自從兒子被殺後，她一直精神錯亂。

(2)又可指「很不正常」，例如：The international money market has gone bananas lately.
國際貨幣市場近來行情波動非常大。

(3)亦可指「十分羡慕」，例如：She went bananas over the dress and bought one in every colour.
她對那條裙喜歡到不得了，各種顏色都買了一件。(New Dictionary of American Slang)

(4)還可指「神魂顛倒」，例如：Whenever I see her, I just go bananas.
每次見到她，我就神不守舍。


順便介紹兩個含生果名稱的習語：
(5)The use of the car was an apple of discord between Jack and his wife.
誰可使用這輛汽車，乃傑克和太太爭吵的原因。

(6)The couple had a big fight yesterday, but now they have made up and everything is peaches and cream.
那對夫婦昨天大吵一場，但今天又言歸於好，親密如初。
